The villages of Lengnau and Endingen have given shelter to people of the Jewish faith ever since the 17th century, at a time when they were forbidden from settling freely elsewhere in Switzerland. The cemetery established in 1750 and the synagogues, which were renovated in the mid-19th century, are of immense significance for the history of the Jewish community in Switzerland.

The Fahr Priory of Benedictine nuns is situated on the banks of the Limmat river. It is an impressive complex that also includes a Baroque herb garden and the Priory's very own press house. The mock architectural frescoes on the exterior of the Priory Church are among the most important examples of late Baroque façade painting north of the Alps.

Alongside the abbeys at Königsfelden and Wettingen, the monastery buildings at Muri are among the most important cultural monuments in Canton Aargau. The Abbey was founded in 1027 and, in the centuries that followed, the building complex expanded to its present size under the stewardship of the Benedictine Order.

The Catholic church of St. Martin in Rheinfelden is also known as "the Frick Valley's treasure chamber". Nowhere have such opulently furnished interiors been preserved so beautifully.

Switzerland's best preserved Cistercian abbey is a cultural asset of international standing, with virtually all the elements from the original 13th buildings preserved to this day. Today Wettingen Abbey houses the regional cantonal school.

The Königsfelden Convent Church, which is famous for its eleven 14th century stained glass windows, is set in a wonderful park. Today the church serves as a museum used for a wide range of cultural activities.
