The Fahr Priory of Benedictine nuns is situated on the banks of the Limmat river. It is an impressive complex that also includes a Baroque herb garden and the Priory's very own press house. The mock architectural frescoes on the exterior of the Priory Church are among the most important examples of late Baroque façade painting north of the Alps. |

Alongside the abbeys at Königsfelden and Wettingen, the monastery buildings at Muri are among the most important cultural monuments in Canton Aargau. The Abbey was founded in 1027 and, in the centuries that followed, the building complex expanded to its present size under the stewardship of the Benedictine Order. |
