Aargau is a Swiss Plateau Canton located in the heart of Europe. The Canton's natural borders consist of the Rhine to the north, the Aare river to the west, and the Reuss river to the south east.
Geographically the Canton of Aargau borders on Germany and on six other Swiss Cantons: Basel-Landschaft, Solothurn, Bern, Lucerne, Zug and Zurich.
All the destinations in Canton Aargau are within easy reach by public transport and by motorway.
Canton Aargau is around 30 minutes from Zurich, Bern, Basel and Lucerne. Germany, our northern neighbour, is also within easy reach.
Zurich International Airport is only a short journey away by train. The railway station is integrated into the airport complex itself. There are direct trains to take you straight to our Canton. From Basel-Mulhouse Airport you can take the bus and the train to Aargau via Basel SBB.
Leisure cruises are available on the Rhine and on Lake Hallwil.
The Aargau offers many opportunities for hiking, cycling, inline skating and canoeing.
Or how about an original way of discovering the Aargau region? Take to the air on-board a hot-air balloon or ride through the idyllic landscape in a horse-drawn carriage.
In winter the programme includes sledding, cross-country skiing and downhill skiing.
And a stay at one of the four thermal spas is the perfect way to round off a trip to the Aargau.
